The MET Cloisters offers a chance to visit a European medieval castle without leaving NYC. Even before stepping inside, the sight of the castle-like museum makes you feel as if you're in a distant medieval town. This is no coincidence—many architectural elements, including wooden doors, stained glass, and reliefs, were brought from Europe and incorporated into the structure. There's also a terrace with a beautiful view of the Hudson River that shouldn’t be missed. The famous Unicorn Tapestry is fascinating in its detail. The place is filled with tranquility and feels like a magical escape, far removed from the city.

I love this museum. It’s so pretty and has a natural flow of showing art. It’s built to replicate a medieval era cloister which enhances the whole experience. They have gorgeous gardens there and the art is mixed with paintings, tapestry, and artifacts. I really like the water views from the Cloisters. It can be a bit difficult to get to but I do think it’s worth it especially during warmer days.

What a treat this place is! Want to feel like you’re in medieval Spain or France without leaving Manhattan? Visit The Cloisters!It’s an incredible gift to the city from wealthy patrons in the 1930s. It houses a stunning collection of medieval artwork and features beautiful, peaceful gardens. Perched on a hill at the northern tip of Manhattan, it offers a truly unique escape. Getting there by subway was surprisingly easy, and it’s a fantastic way to spend an afternoon.
