A very interesting place to visit with a good and fascinating history. The Tourist information centre is very good location nearby to get info about the history. The open souvenir market from the main gate to the shrine was also interesting, but a bit too commercialized, and it gets very crowded. So, go there earlier in the day to avoid the crowd.

Although it was crowded, not as much as I was expecting. You feel at peace while walking around. The colors are vibrant, so really photogenic. You can try getting your fortune read by pulling a stick. The whole area is quite small.

I went there early in the morning. Shops near the entrance weren’t open yet. The temple atmosphere was still as lovely as before, but Japan in June is extremely hot. I first came here 8–9 years ago and bought a lucky charm. Today, I bought one again to pray for my family, loved ones, and myself. It’s a beautiful place. Lots of tasty food around. I recommend the green tea shop and melon pan in a small alley nearby.
