Very impressive Cathedral especially considering its age and the fact it survived 14 direct bombings from allied forces during WW2. It dominates the Cologne Skyline and you can’t help but marvel at it from every angle. It’s free to enter the main church and is equally as impressive from inside. You can also go up one of its towers but we unfortunately didn’t have time to do this. Make sure you see it at night too and from walking over the nearby Railway bridge for the best views.

The Cologne Cathedral is an awe-inspiring masterpiece of Gothic architecture that truly comes alive at night. While it’s impressive by day, the nighttime view is absolutely magical. Illuminated by soft golden lights, the twin spires rise majestically into the sky, giving the structure an almost otherworldly presence. The details of the facade, from the intricate carvings to the towering stained-glass windows, appear even more dramatic against the night sky. The square around it is peaceful in the evening, making it the perfect time for quiet reflection or a romantic stroll. Whether you’re into history, architecture, or simply breathtaking sights, seeing the Cologne Cathedral at night is unforgettable.

Beautiful cathedral with lots of history in it. Would have been nice if we can get closer to the relic but can still be seen from afar. This is a must see when in Germany. It helps that it is just outside of a train station so it is very accessible. We were lucky enough to celebrate Christmas Eve mass here.
