The art museum in Stuttgart is really an amazing place to visit. The wide variety of exhibits and the powerful message and tones from the artist focuses the mind on current issues, and reflecting on the past to make comparisons with the modern world. It’s also nicely place for a drink in the heart of downtown, and after spending the day at the museum - there is a picturesque restaurant at the top. Viewing all of downtown Stuttgart from the full-height windows, it’s hard not to notice the vast size and bustling life that is Stuttgart.

The museum is located within the peculiar box-shaped, all glass building at Schloßplatz along Königstraße. We visited recently and enjoyed the permanent collection which is nicely laid out over two floors. There is probably 60-90 minutes worth of viewing depending on your interests and available time. The Graphics for the Dictatorship section is stark, at times dark but fitting for the era represented. There are particular impressive works by Otto Dix complemented by good works by fellow contemporaries. I found Kunstmuseum Stuttgart to have a nice collection if you have a interest in late 19th through 20th-century contemporary art world within Germany.
