Visiting Minoo Waterfall in autumn is a breathtaking experience that perfectly captures the beauty of Japan’s seasonal charm. Located just a short train ride from central Osaka, Minoo Park is a peaceful escape from the city, especially during fall when the maple leaves turn vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow. The journey starts at the base of Minoo Park near Hankyu Minoo Station. From there, a scenic 2.8 km walking trail leads you gently uphill toward the waterfall. The path is well-paved and easy to follow, lined with traditional shops, small temples, and even wild monkeys if you’re lucky. Along the way, don’t miss trying the famous “momiji tempura” — maple leaves deep-fried in a light, sweet batter. As you walk, the cool autumn air and the rustling of colorful leaves create a calming atmosphere. The further you go, the more stunning the foliage becomes, with the trail winding alongside a peaceful river. After about 40 minutes, you’ll reach the beautiful 33-meter-high Minoo Waterfall. Surrounded by fiery autumn colors, the waterfall looks like a scene from a painting — tranquil, powerful, and refreshing. It’s the perfect reward after the pleasant hike. Minoo Waterfall in fall is not just a destination, but an experience of nature, culture, and seasonal beauty. A must-visit for anyone in Osaka during autumn.

One of the most beautiful trails I've come across since moving to Japan. The main path is fairly easy to walk but if you want something a little more strenuous, take one of the side paths. These side trails have little secret scenic spots that are worth a detour.

Also Ely park filled with beauty spits and notable shrines and temples etc. you can easily spend an afternoon here casually working up to the falls. The walk is not so challenging and moderate fitness is fine for a casual walk up. It can be steep in places and even at a steady walking pace you are looking at a healthy 30+mins and a moderate sweat, drenched on hot summer days. Lots of nice restaurants on the way up, I recommend taking a break at one.
